Custom Switch Components

We manufacture molded plastic components, including insert-molded parts for multifunction switch modules mounted on steering columns. Insert molding is used to make circuit platforms that provide interconnections between stem controls and car harness wiring connectors. These switch modules are incorporated into steering column locations to handle the increasing number of electrical functions offered to the driver, including hazards, wiper speed, high-low headlights and washer mist operation.

By using insert-molded circuits, connector terminals and sliding contact surfaces, we provide multifunctional parts without increasing the size of the switch envelope, while reducing costs and improving reliability in complex assemblies. Combining complex stamped circuits and plastic structures provides more switch and structural functions.

High conductivity copper is used for one-piece circuit paths and connector terminals while copper alloy is stamped to form leaf springs for wiping surfaces. Tricon also has the ability to weld and rivet contacts. Molded glass fiber-reinforced plastic produces structural plates meeting long-term performance requirements.
